Mohabbatein was released on 27 October 2000 and received positive reviews from critics who praised the performances, music, and production design. The film was a commercial success, grossing ₹900 million (US$9.3 million) worldwide to become the highest grossing film of the year. At the 46th Filmfare Awards, it won four awards including Best Supporting Actor (Bachchan) and Critics Best Actor (Khan).
