It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances, production design, costumes and battle sequences, while criticism was directed towards its screenplay, pacing and historical liberties. The film was a commercial failure at the box office, grossing approximately ₹49 crore against a production budget of ₹92 crore. The film was nominated for several awards, including nominations at the 65th Filmfare Awards, where it received recognition for its technical and supporting performances.
