Al son de la marimba (1940) watch online

To the Sound of the Marimba (Spanish: Al son de la marimba) is a 1941 Mexican musical comedy film directed by Juan Bustillo Oro, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Humberto Gómez Landero. It stars Sara García, Fernando Soler, Marina Tamayo, and Joaquín Pardavé. The film was produced by Grovas-Oro Films during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema and shot at the Clasa Studios in Mexico City.

Adapted from a popular theatrical comedy by Carlos Arniches, the narrative explores class tensions, regional identity, and deceptive courtships when an impoverished aristocratic family from Chiapas attempts to restore their wealth by marrying their daughter into a wealthy estate. The film's sets were designed by the art director Carlos Toussaint, and its musical sequences extensively highlight the traditional folk music of southern Mexico.
